Awabakal Website & Services App
Awabakal has a proud 40 year history and has grown to be the leading medical provider for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Newcastle region. With such a rich history in the region, and encompassing so many areas of support and health, they needed a digital interface which was robust enough to contain it all, and remain easily navigable for a broad range of users and individual needs.
Designed to help users navigate and utilise all of Awabakals services, the website covers all of the vast areas Awabakal provides, as well as their history as a land council and support for indigenous people.
The app was developed as a more personal and concise tool for conveniently accessing contact details for Awabakal services, receive news and event updates and create personal reminders to help manage their personal health.
Working with Headjam, we collaborated with local Aboriginal artist Saretta Fielding, creating indigenous symbols from the story of Awabakal. I was then guided by the artist’s graphic style to produce the iconography for the website and app interface.
